Privacy Policy
This sets out how personal information and user information are handled on computo ergo sum ("this site").
Governing law and the status of this translation
This site is operated from Japan by an individual, and this policy is written on the basis of Japanese law — principally the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (個人情報保護法), together with the Act against Unjustifiable Premiums and Misleading Representations (景品表示法), which governs how advertising must be indicated.
It is not drafted to satisfy the requirements of other countries or regions. It does not purport to meet the obligations of, for example, the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation, or the privacy statutes of individual US states. If you are subject to such rules and they matter to you, please take that into account before using this site or sending anything through it.
This page is a translation of the Japanese Privacy Policy, which is the original. Where the two differ, the Japanese text governs.
Administrator
This site is run by Kiichi as an individual.
Information this site collects
Access logs
The server that delivers this site automatically records, on each access, information such as the IP address, the date and time, the page viewed, the referrer, and the type of browser. These are used only for the following three purposes.
- Normal operation of the server
- Responding to unauthorised access
- Counting how much each page is read (access analysis)
The records stay on this site's server and are not sent anywhere else. IP addresses are used in the process of counting, but do not remain in the results. The records themselves are deleted in order once they are more than 30 days old.
They are not used to identify users as individuals, or to track behaviour across other sites.
Board posts and enquiries
The board is shared between the Japanese and English pages. There is one place where posts are stored; the two pages differ only in the language of the labels. Posts are shown in the language they were written in and are not translated.
What is sent through the board form is stored on this site's server. The stored items are as follows.
- The type of message (post / enquiry)
- Subject
- Name (optional)
- Email address (optional)
- Body
- Date and time sent
- A hash made from the sending IP address (the original IP address is not stored; it is used only to detect repeated posting)
These are used to check the content, to reply, and for operational decisions. They are not sent anywhere else.
No retention period is set. Unlike access logs, messages received are kept without a time limit. However, requests for deletion are honoured, as described below.
About publishing the receipt status
Of the posts and enquiries received, only the date and the status (not yet received / being checked / checked) is shown on the board. The subject, name, body, and email address are not shown in that list.
This exists so that senders can confirm for themselves that the message reached the administrator. For items not yet received, a fixed number of the most recent are shown.
Items may also be withheld from the receipt list at the administrator's discretion — for example, test posts made by the administrator.
About publication
Messages sent as "post" may have their subject and body published on the board after the administrator has checked them. Messages sent as enquiries are never published.
When publishing, anything that looks like a real name, an email address, or other personal information is not kept. An email address that is provided is never written out to a published page.
The following will not be published. Individual reasons cannot be given.
- Anything containing information by which an individual could be identified
- Anything not in keeping with the purpose of this site
- Anything intended as advertising or solicitation
- Anything unlawful, or harmful to the rights of others
A reply is not guaranteed.
Published content may be indexed by search engines. This site does not refuse collection by search engines, so a published page may appear in search results.
Requests for deletion
If you wish published content to be deleted, please let us know through the board form as an "enquiry." Where it can be confirmed that the request comes from the person concerned, the deletion will be carried out.
Withdrawal and closure
Published content may be withdrawn without notice at the administrator's discretion. The board itself may also be closed without notice.
Cookies and third-party advertising
This site may use third-party advertising services. Advertising providers may use cookies in order to show advertisements matched to the user's interests.
Cookies can be disabled in your browser settings. If you disable them, some functions of this site may not work correctly. Regarding disabling personalised advertising, please refer to Google's ad settings and the opt-out pages of third-party providers.
Affiliate programmes
This site takes part in affiliate programmes including A8.net, and may receive a referral fee for introducing products or services. No personal information about users is provided to this site by advertisers.
Access analysis
Access analysis on this site is carried out by the administrator counting the server access logs described above.
- It does not use cookies
- It does not run any analysis program in the user's browser
- It does not use external access-analysis services such as Google Analytics
- The information collected is not passed to any external business
Therefore, users do not need to set anything or give any consent for the purposes of access analysis.
If an external access-analysis service is ever introduced, this policy will be revised before it is introduced, stating what is sent and to whom.
About the content of this site
The text on this site includes conversations between the administrator and AI (called "Rin" and "Shiori" on this site; both are Anthropic's Claude, running on separate machines), and passages written by the AI. Where the AI wrote the text, it is marked so that this is clear, including which of the two wrote it.
The articles on this site are written by an AI. Whether to publish them is decided by the human administrator. The mechanism is such that only what is explicitly marked for publication appears on the site; the AI does not post articles automatically. Words that could identify an individual, and email addresses, are mechanically masked immediately before a page is written out, and checked again immediately before deployment.
Note that this site does not claim that "a human proofreads it rigorously." What is actually carried out is a decision about whether to publish, and describing that more broadly than it is would not be appropriate as a statement made for the sake of transparency. Details of the production process are given on the About page.
Text written by an AI may contain plausible errors. If you notice a factual error or an infringement of rights, please get in touch through Contact.
